Widespread rain, thunderstorms forecast across Pakistan

(Web Desk): The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rainfall in the upper and central regions of the country from June 13 to 16, along with thunderstorms and strong winds in all districts of South Punjab and Upper Sindh.

According to the department, moist currents are entering the upper parts of the country, and a westerly weather system is expected to affect these areas starting June 13. As a result, rainfall is expected from June 13 to 16 in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, Swat, and Mansehra.

Batgram, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad are also likely to receive intermittent rain, with hailstorms expected in some areas.

Rain is also likely during this period in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, and Sargodha, while Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are also forecast to receive rainfall.

Similarly, rainfall is expected in Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Karak, D.I. Khan, Waziristan, Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel during these four days.

The Meteorological Department also predicts thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain across all districts of South Punjab and Upper Sindh.

Additionally, dust storms and windstorms are expected in Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan, while urban flooding is a possibility in Islamabad, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. There is also a warning for potential flash floods in streams and rivers in Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, and Swat.

The department has advised district administrations to remain on alert.
