The Prime Minister extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragic loss of lives in the crash. He stated that the plane crash in India is a heartbreaking tragedy.
It is worth noting that a government-owned Air India passenger aircraft crashed in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, killing all 242 passengers on board.
According to Indian media, the Air India flight crashed near Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat. It was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members. Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, was also reportedly on board the ill-fated plane.
Reports say the aircraft included 69 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, seven Portuguese citizens, and 11 children.
The Air India plane was en route from Ahmedabad to London when it crashed just seconds after takeoff.
Flight AI-171 had reached an altitude of only 625 feet at a speed of 322 km/h when it crashed due to technical failure.
Indian media reports say the aircraft crashed into a doctors’ hostel, where initial reports confirm that 12 people inside the building were also killed.
