Nationwide tally reaches 12 in 2025

(Web Desk): A new polio case has been reported in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing the total number of cases across the country to 12 so far this year.
According to reports, the latest case in Bannu is the sixth polio case reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2025. The affected child belongs to the Shams Khel Union Council of Bannu.
So far this year, four cases have been reported from Sindh, one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan, while southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has emerged as a high-risk area for polio. Limited access to certain regions continues to deprive thousands of children of the polio vaccine.
According to official statistics, three nationwide polio vaccination campaigns have been conducted in 2025, targeting 45 million children. Around 400,000 frontline workers and 225,000 female volunteers participated in these efforts.
Authorities continue to urge parents to ensure their children receive polio drops during every campaign. Polio is an incurable disease, and vaccination is the only protection — every drop guarantees a brighter future for children.
