Pillion riding will also be banned in the province on Muharram 9 and 10


Lahore: In the view of security measures across Punjab, it has been decided to impose Section 144 from Muharram 1 to 10.
According to the details, the spokesperson of the Punjab Home Department said that there will be no further increase in Muharram processions and gatherings, and a ban will also be imposed on the display of all types of weapons and incendiary materials in public places without the permission of the relevant authorities.
Under Section 144, a complete ban will be imposed on provocative slogans and gestures that incite public sentiments, beliefs, and sects. Section 144 will also be imposed on statements and comments that incite sectarian or racial hatred in any way.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Home Department, stones, bricks, bottles, garbage collection, and construction of morchas on the roofs of houses or other buildings located on the procession routes will be prohibited. Presence as spectators on the roofs or in front of shops has been banned.
According to the spokesperson, pillion riding will also be banned in the province on Muharram 9 and 10. Senior citizens, women, and law enforcement officials will be exempted from the ban on pillion riding.
According to the Punjab Home Department, all other restrictions will apply from Muharram 1 to 10.
