Pakistan's mining sector is gaining remarkable recognition due to SIFC’s effective and forward-looking policies

(Web Desk): Pakistan’s mining industry has made history on the global stage by receiving its first-ever Gold Certification. Thanks to the successful policies of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the mining sector is now on a path of significant progress.
Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) has been awarded the prestigious Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Gold Certification for its effective water management practices in Thar. Established in 2009 through a collaboration between the United Nations and international organizations, the AWS framework is fully aligned with the UN's environmental goals. The AWS Certification is a global recognition of responsible water use by institutions.
For the first time in history, any mining company in the world has received the AWS Gold Certification, marking a historic achievement for Pakistan. SECMC’s advanced water management model has become a global benchmark for sustainability. Significant initiatives have been undertaken in Thar, including agricultural programs and the provision of sanitation infrastructure for local communities.
The installation of 23 modern water supply plants under the Thar Coal Project has become a key milestone in the country’s economic development. Globally, Pakistan's mining sector is gaining remarkable recognition due to SIFC’s effective and forward-looking policies.
