Islamabad: Pakistan has reported a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths amid concerns of fourth wave of coronavirus owing to Delta variant.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,579 cases of coronavirus were reported while 40 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 22,888.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 996,451.
As many as 922,034 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,590 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 351,345 in the province with 10,900 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 359,824 in the province, while the death toll has reached 5,756.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 141,138 in the province with 4,397 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 29,242 confirmed cases while 320 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 22,339 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 605. On the other hand, there are 7,535 cases in GB with 122 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 85,028 cases in the capital city while 788 people have lost their lives.
