Islamabad: Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated on Wednesday (today) with religious fervor to commemorate the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael (AS).

Eid prayers congregations are being held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages with strict adherence to Coronavirus related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Ummah and progress, prosperity and security of the country.
Ulema in their sermons of Eid highlight the significance of the philosophy of great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
After the Eid prayers, people offer sacrifices of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
The festival is celebrated by Muslims across the globe with much fervour as they step out in their finest clothes to meet their friends and families.
As per the tradition, Muslims sacrifice an animal on this day, which is known as qurbani.
The sacrificed animal, generally a goat, is divided into three parts. One part is for family, friends and neighbours, the second part is distributed among the poor and needy people, and one part is reserved for immediate family.
