Former Pakistan cricket team bowler Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the interim red-ball coach.
Azhar Mahmood will serve in this position until the end of his current contract.
After serving as the assistant head coach of the national team, Azhar Mahmood has been an important part of the team’s strategic core for a long time.
After Mike Hesson became head coach, Azhar Mahmood was not part of the team management. He was not involved in the team management in the home series against Bangladesh.
It is pertinent to note that Azhar Mahmood has a contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) until April 2026, and during this time, Pakistan has to play two Test series.
