‘Fire broke out due to a short circuit’


(Web Desk): A van (Hiace) carrying female students suddenly caught fire near the Ahmadpur Sharqia Toll Plaza, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to eight others.
According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the fire broke out due to a short circuit. The van was carrying 18 students who were returning after taking an exam.
As soon as the incident was reported, the Motorway Police promptly reached the scene and rescued the students from the burning van. The injured students were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital with the help of Rescue 1122, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Later, the Motorway Police secured the accident site and restored the flow of traffic. According to the spokesperson, the driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. A search for him is underway, and legal action is being taken.
