In Sindh, there will also be a ban on pillion riding on the 9th and 10th of Muharram

Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a two-day public holiday in observance of Youm-e-Ashura.
According to a notification issued by the Chief Secretary of Sindh, there will be public holidays in the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, corresponding to July 5 and 6, 2025.
During these public holidays, all government and private educational institutions and offices will remain closed. However, government and administrative departments assigned duties related to processions will remain open as usual. The notification will not apply to employees in essential services.
It is worth noting that in Pakistan, Youm-e-Ashura will be observed with religious fervor on July 6, and the federal government has already announced public holidays nationwide on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
To maintain law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram, special measures are being taken across all provinces, and Section 144 has been imposed. In Sindh, there will also be a ban on pillion riding (double riding on motorcycles) on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
