Ivanov was arrested in April last year on allegations of accepting bribes worth $48.4 million

(Web Desk): Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of corruption charges.
Ivanov was arrested in April last year on allegations of accepting bribes worth $48.4 million and was subsequently removed from his position.
The court sentenced him to 13 years in prison, while one of his subordinates, Anton Filatov, received a sentence of 12 years and six months.
During the investigation, the former deputy minister made startling revelations that led to the arrest of another dozen individuals.
As the trial was held behind closed doors, limited information is available. However, state media claimed that all legal procedures were properly followed.
In a statement, the Ministry of Justice said that all legal assistance was provided to former Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov.
Critics, however, argue that Ivanov is facing this case due to his opposition to the Russian President.
