Riyadh: The US missile defense system ‘THAAD’ has been made operational in Saudi Arabia.
According to Arab media, US CENTCOM Commander General Erik Kurilla announced that the first battery of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system has become operational in Saudi Arabia.
The report states that General Kurilla congratulated Saudi military officials and other representatives on the activation of the THAAD defense system.

According to a report by a British news outlet, the THAAD defense system is capable of intercepting and destroying short- and medium-range missiles.
The system has a range of 200 kilometers and operates at altitudes of up to 150 kilometers.
