Punjab University, PEMRA strengthen media-academia collaboration

Lahore: Prof. Dr. Lubna Zaheer, Chairperson of the Department of Film & Broadcasting at SCS, University of the Punjab, held a significant meeting with Saleem Baig, Chairman of PEMRA, to discuss the evolving role of media in society.

A key focus of the meeting was the framework and functionality of PEMRA’s Council of Complaints, where Dr. Zaheer serves as Chairperson for Punjab. The discussion aimed to strengthen regulatory understanding and promote responsible media practices.

Dr. Zaheer also extended a formal invitation to Saleem Baig to visit the department and interact with students, which he warmly accepted. The meeting was attended by senior PEMRA officials including Wakeel Khan, Muhammad Tahir, Tahir Farooq Tarar, Tamseel Haider, and Liaqat Shah.

The engagement reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to bridge academia and industry, offering students valuable exposure to real-world regulatory perspectives and media governance.
