He became 26th Chief Justice of SHC


Karachi: Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar took the oath of office as Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) at the Governor House Sindh in Karachi.
According to the details, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori administered the oath of office to the Chief Justice Sindh High Court. The oath-taking ceremony was held for the first time at the place where the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, first took the oath of office as Governor General.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Advocate General Sindh Jawad Dero, Consul General of Japan, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, Consul General of Saudi Arabia, Consul General of Oman, Consul General of Bangladesh, SHC Justice Omar Sial, Justice Arshad Hussain, Justice Agha Faisal, Justice Zulfiqar Sangi, Justice Mubeen Lakho and other judges, along with Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.
Justice Junaid Ghaffar became the 26th Chief Justice of the SHC, after which he visited the Quaid’s mausoleum, offered Fateha, and laid a wreath.
It is pertinent to note that on July 1, in a meeting of the Judicial Commission chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi, it was approved to appoint Justice Sarfaraz Dogar as Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Junaid Ghaffar as Chief Justice of SHC, Justice Atiq Shah as Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC), and Justice Rozi Khan as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court (BHC).
A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of CJP Yahya Afridi to appoint the Chief Justices of the four provincial High Courts and the Islamabad High Court.
Later, a notification of the Judicial Commission meeting was issued in the Supreme Court.
The notification said that Justice Atiq Shah was nominated for the Chief Justice of PHC, and Justice Rozi Khan was nominated for the Chief Justice of BHC.
Additionally, Justice Junaid Ghaffar was nominated for the post of Chief Justice of the SHC, and Justice Sarfaraz Dogar was nominated for Chief Justice of the IHC, while the Judicial Commission approved the nominations by majority vote.
