(Web Desk): The bodies of two seminary students who drowned in the Swat River near Batkhela in Malakand have been recovered. The victims were identified as Irshad Umar (16) and Ejaz Umar (14), both residents of Upper Dir.
According to Rescue 1122, the tragic incident occurred at the Batkhela Headworks when the two boys were washing clothes by the river and accidentally fell in. Locals immediately jumped into the river to rescue them but were unable to save them.
The rescue operation involved local volunteers, Rescue 1122's diving team, and Civil Defence personnel. After a thorough search, both bodies were recovered from the river.
Authorities noted that the district administration has imposed a ban on swimming or bathing in canals and rivers. However, violations of Section 144 remain common in the area.
