(Web Desk): The twenty-fourth death anniversary of Urdu poet Qateel Shifai was observed on Friday. Qateel Shifai was born on 24th December 1919 in Haripur.
His real name was Muhammad Aurangzeb but he adopted Qateel Shifai as his pen name. He wrote over twenty collections of poetry and more than two thousand five songs for films.
His poetry has been translated into numerous languages including Hindi, Gujarati, English, Russian and Chinese. Qateel Shifai was awarded Pride of Performance in 1994.
He died on this day in 2001 in Lahore.
