Police instructed not to issue fines

(Web Desk): Sindh’s Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, has announced an extension until August 14 for vehicles using Ajrak-themed number plates. He also directed the police not to issue fines for these plates during this period.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Chawla emphasized that Ajrak is a symbol of Sindhi culture and will remain on number plates. He stated that "some people seem to have developed an 'Ajrak phobia'," adding that the Ajrak design was introduced as a security feature. He clarified that modern number plates integrated with the Safe City project are mandatory.
The provincial minister further stated that no fines will be issued for Ajrak number plates until the deadline of August 14. However, he warned citizens that routine fines will still apply for violations such as not wearing helmets, missing documents, and other infractions.
Chawla reiterated that it is mandatory to install the modern number plates linked to the Safe City initiative.
