Facebook deletes 10 million fake profiles in major 2025 crackdown
Additionally, 500,000 more accounts were banned or disabled due to spam-like behavior

(Web Desk): Facebook has deleted nearly 10 million fake profiles in the first half of 2025 as part of a major accountability drive.
According to media reports, these fake profiles impersonated well-known users or content creators.
The operation also aimed to restore the digital presence of original creators. Additionally, 500,000 more accounts were banned or disabled due to spam-like behavior.
Meta stated that this step was taken to promote content from "real" users and protect against fake or plagiarized material. By identifying copied and fake posts, the content of original creators has been reinstated.
AI and other technologies were used to detect plagiarism. Monetization for users repeatedly posting copied content has also been suspended. Meta added that this AI-powered effort will continue moving forward.
