Netflix’s main Squid Game series may be over, but a second season of the Squid Game reality show is debuting in just a few months – and a third season is on the way.
On Thursday, Netflix announced that season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge will premiere on November 4th. “In Season 2 of the gripping game show inspired by the original scripted series, 456 brand-new contestants will enter the ultimate test of strategy, alliances, and endurance as they compete for a life-changing $4.56 million prize,” Netflix says. “The new season raises the stakes higher than ever with shocking twists and never-before-played games.”
Netflix has also opened casting for season 3, and the company says that players who win at its real-life Squid Game: The Experience locations in New York and London will “receive priority in the casting process.” The company hasn’t said when season 3 will debut.
Squid Game’s third and final season premiered at the end of last month. I haven’t watched it myself, but our reviewer Sara Merican says the uneven season leaves the door wide open – which perhaps isn’t surprising given how big the show is and how fast Netflix is promoting the next Squid Game thing.
