Gmail to get new ad format with integrated shopping features
The layout of this format resembles a product gallery, encouraging users to browse multiple ads directly within their inbox

(Web Desk): Gmail, the world’s most popular email service, is owned by Google — a company known for displaying ads across all its platforms, including Search, YouTube, and more.
Now, Google is testing a new ad format within Gmail itself. According to a report, the company is experimenting with integrating shopping features directly into the Gmail interface.
This new change focuses on the Promotions tab, where ads will be displayed in a redesigned, visually rich format. When users click on an ad, it will expand to show product images, prices, average star ratings, and other relevant details.
Essentially, this new format could transform Gmail’s Promotions tab from a folder for marketing emails into a full-fledged shopping platform.
The layout of this format resembles a product gallery, encouraging users to browse multiple ads directly within their inbox.
In simple terms, Gmail is expected to become increasingly filled with ads, which may be more difficult to filter out. If the testing proves successful, the report suggests that this new format could also be extended to other Google platforms like Google Discover and YouTube.
This marks a significant shift in how Gmail may be used — moving beyond just communication to become a more commerce-driven experience.
