The Russian parliament has approved a measure to fine those who search for or read content deemed extremist in the country.
According to media reports, individuals could face fines of up to 5,000 rubles. In addition, a law has also been passed to impose fines on the use of VPNs in Russia.
Meanwhile, the decision has faced criticism from both government officials and the opposition.
