Barikot: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Swat has achieved a significant breakthrough by eliminating three most-wanted terrorists affiliated with the Fitna-e-Khawarij group during an operation in Barikot.
CTD neutralised three key operatives of Fitna-e-Khawarij, including Ajmal alias Waqas. All three terrorists were killed in a successful CTD operation in Swat.
Ajmal, who was involved in the killing of members of the Village Defence Council, carried a bounty of Rs2 million on his head.
In its official statement, the CTD confirmed that the slain terrorists were involved in attacks on security forces and the martyrdom of police personnel. The operation dismantled a terrorist network that was spreading violence through external funding. The militants were also wanted in cases related to IED attacks and extortion.
This operation dealt a severe blow to the operational wings of Fitna-e-Khawarij in Swat and adjoining areas. The CTD reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the group from its roots.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Malakand Division, Sher Akbar Khan, praised CTD Swat and local police for striking a critical blow against the group’s operational command. They emphasized that actions against terrorists will be further intensified to ensure lasting peace and stability in the province.
