Shopkeepers are now selling sugar for anywhere between Rs200 and Rs210 per kg

Lahore: In Lahore, sugar is being sold at prices set by shopkeepers instead of the official government rate, leaving citizens distressed amid rising inflation.
Despite efforts, Price Control Magistrates have failed to enforce the government-fixed rate for sugar, which is officially set at Rs173 per kg.
Major departmental stores have stopped selling sugar altogether, and it has disappeared from shelves at many small and large stores across the city.
Shopkeepers are now selling sugar for anywhere between Rs200 and Rs210 per kg.
Store owners claim that sugar costs them at least Rs190 per kg, and those selling it below that price are incurring losses.
Citizens have called on government authorities to ensure the availability of sugar at the official rate.
