Instagram now requires 1,000 followers to go live

(Web Desk): If you enjoy live streaming on Instagram, get ready for a major setback.

Instagram has now imposed a restriction that only users with at least 1,000 followers will be able to go live on the photo-sharing app.

Previously, anyone could livestream on Instagram, regardless of whether they had any followers or not.

In this regard, the company has sent a notice to users with fewer followers.

The notice states: “Your account is not eligible to go live. We’ve updated the requirements for using this feature. Now, only public accounts with 1,000 or more followers can start live videos.”

The company confirmed in a statement that this is not a bug, but an intentional change made by Instagram.

According to Instagram, this change aims to improve the live streaming experience.

However, users with fewer followers have not responded positively to this change.

Even users who have over 1,000 followers but have a private account will also be unable to livestream.

Interestingly, this move appears to be influenced by TikTok, which also only allows live streaming for users with a certain number of followers.

In comparison, Facebook allows accounts with at least 100 followers to go live, while YouTube permits live streaming from accounts with just 50 subscribers.
