Pakpattan police officer arrested for assaulting woman in viral video

Pakpattan: A police officer who assaulted a woman inside her home in Punjab’s Pakpattan district has been arrested and a case registered against him after a video of the incident went viral.

The video showed the police officer, identified as ASI Ejaz, slapping and kicking a woman inside her house, while a female police constable was also present at the scene. The disturbing footage drew widespread condemnation on social media.

District Police Officer (DPO) Pakpattan, Javed Iqbal, took notice of the viral video and ordered the immediate arrest of ASI Ejaz. He was later booked under relevant legal charges.

According to reports, ASI Ejaz, who is posted at the Faridkot police post, had gone to the woman’s home to evict her from the property, which reportedly led to the violent incident.

DPO Javed Iqbal stated that taking the law into one's own hands will not be tolerated, and there is no place in the police force for those who abuse their authority.
