Authorities recovered stolen goods worth millions, vehicles, pistols, luxury items, and over 200 SIM cards from the suspects

Lahore: A four-member gang involved in looting valuable items through an online taxi app has been arrested in Lahore, thanks to Safe City camera tracing.
A driver of an online taxi service fled with goods worth millions of rupees from Jail Road, Lahore.
The victim immediately called the police via the 15 emergency helpline. Upon receiving the call, a virtual patrolling officer from Safe City began tracing the suspects using surveillance cameras.
Using AI-based technology, Safe City traced the complete route of the suspects’ vehicle and provided the location to the police. Acting promptly on this information, the police arrested the suspects.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the gang was involved in fraud and deception using fake ride-hailing apps. Authorities recovered stolen goods worth millions, vehicles, pistols, luxury items, and over 200 SIM cards from the suspects.
According to a Safe City spokesperson, citizens are advised to use only reliable platforms when booking online rides to avoid falling victim to fraud.
