Flash floods kill 56 in KP, AJK & GB

(Web Desk): Cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods have caused large-scale devastation across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with at least 56 people reported dead and many others missing in various incidents.

According to rescue officials, in the Jabrai area of Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a flash flood struck last night, destroying several homes and sweeping away connecting roads and bridges.

Authorities have recovered the bodies of 21 victims so far, while locals report that 7 people are still missing. The search for them is ongoing. Three injured persons were given immediate medical aid and shifted to the hospital.

In another incident, in Battagram area of Mansehra district, a cloudburst late at night swept away several people. Seven people died in Battagram, and one fatality was reported in Shangla.

According to police, multiple houses were destroyed in the area, and a large number of livestock were also swept away by the floods. Search and recovery operations are underway.

Meanwhile, in Azad Kashmir, after a cloudburst triggered flooding in rivers and streams, eight people, including six members of a single family, lost their lives.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, ten more fatalities occurred due to rain-related incidents.

The Azad Kashmir government has closed all educational institutions for two days due to the severe weather conditions.
