Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, has reaffirmed the government's commitment to elevating Pakistan's auto industry to global standards.
Addressing the Auto Parts Summit 2025 as the Chief Guest, Khan highlighted the sector's significant contribution to the national economy and employment.
The auto parts industry contributes 3% to the national GDP and has created over 2.5 million employment opportunities, with seven major car manufacturers producing vehicles locally, supported by over 1,200 auto parts manufacturers. However, Khan acknowledged challenges such as energy costs, access to technology, and financing, which require comprehensive solutions.
Under the Prime Minister's directives, the government is committed to formulating policies to drive innovation and sustainability in the sector. Khan emphasized the implementation of the New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025-30 and pledged full support to the industry in research, development, and export promotion.
"The future of Pakistan's automotive industry is bright," Khan concluded, encouraging industrialists to invest in modern technology and research. The government aims to transform Pakistan into a regional automotive hub through collaboration with the industry.
The summit provided a platform for industry stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities, with the government's commitment to supporting the auto sector seen as a positive step towards boosting the national economy.
