Taipei: Taiwanese weightlifter Kuo Hsing-chun completed her elusive quest for Olympic gold Tuesday, clinching country’s first win at the Tokyo Games by setting Olympic records in the women's 59kg weight class.

Chinese Taipei's Kuo Hsing-chun has turned her Olympic bronze into glittering gold as she powered her way to the top of the podium in the women's 59kg Olympic Weightlifting event at Tokyo Games 2020.
Kuo was one of the last ones out in the snatch, lifting an Olympic Record of 103kg on her second attempt—almost 7kg more than any other competitor.
Into the clean and jerk with an initial attempt of 125kg she made an Olympic Record of 133kg.
Hsing-chun had not lost a major competition in her weight class since the 2016 Olympics in Rio, where she was hampered by injury and finished third, finally chased down the gold medal that had long remained just out of her grasp.
Taiwan now has one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in Tokyo.
