Ravi riverside settlements under water, another flood wave to enter from India today
High-level floods at Shahdara have affected several areas of Lahore, where people have been forced to relocate


Lahore: The settlements of Lahore, the capital of Punjab, have also been hit by floods. People are being shifted to safer places. Another flood wave from India will enter the Chenab River this evening. A flood alert has been issued again in Chenab and Ravi, while a new series of monsoon rains has been predicted to start across the country, including Punjab, today, which may worsen the flood situation.
The flooding in Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej has severely affected many districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Jhang, Hafizabad, Pakpattan, Sialkot, Chiniot, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Narowal, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur.
According to officials, more than 1.46 million people have been forced to leave their homes and seek shelter in safer places this week due to the worst floods in Punjab province in four decades. The recent floods in Punjab have wreaked havoc in hundreds of villages, due to which important grain crops have also been submerged.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that the heavy monsoon rains and the release of excess water from its dams by the neighboring country have increased the flow of water in the three rivers flowing in the province, and in some places the river banks have also been breached, due to which floodwaters have entered more than 1692 villages.
Lahore

High-level floods at Shahdara in the Ravi River have affected several areas of Lahore, where people have been forced to relocate.
Ravi River floodwater also entered the Badami Bagh area adjacent to the Ring Road. Various areas of Chohang have also been submerged. Residents of a private housing society in Chohang have been evacuated after the water entered.
Flood water came to various areas, including Manzoor Garden, Barkat Colony and Manwal, Farrukhabad, Aziz Colony, Amin Park, Afghan Colony, and Shafiqabad were also submerged. The urban administration has claimed to ensure the evacuation of residents.
New rail in Chenab from India
Flood Forecasting Punjab has issued a new letter from India to release water, which states that the flood rail from India will reach the Trimon Barrage on the Chenab River head this evening.
There will be a very high flood level at Head Trimu Barrage, and a very high flood level will reach Head Panjnad on September 2.

The Ravi River also caused havoc in Narang Mandi. Thousands of acres of agricultural land were destroyed, and the land route to many villages and camps was cut off due to the disruption of the communication system.
In addition, several villages in Narowal were submerged, crops standing on thousands of acres were destroyed, Shakargarh Narowal Road was also submerged, while the railway track in Ahmedabad Fort was flooded, due to which the movement of trains was suspended.
The water level was seen as very high in Qadirabad. People were submerged up to their chests and were forced to migrate, including children.
Thousands of people have started migrating after more than a hundred villages were submerged in water due to the breach of the safety dam of Mouza Kalri in Tehsil Lalian of Chiniot. A flood of more than 85,300 cusecs of water is flowing in Chiniot.

The Aurangabad dam in Sahiwal has started to crack, and the settlements adjacent to the dam have been submerged. The administration has directed the residents to move to a safer place.
Rawal Dam spillways opened
According to the NDMA spokesperson, the spillway gates of Rawal Dam were opened at 6:00am when the water level reached 1,751 feet.
Safety measures are being taken to control the flow of water in Korang Nala.
High flood in Chenab and Sutlej
The Flood Warning Center has warned that the flow of the Chenab River is likely to reach 1 million cusecs at Kot Momin, more than 50 villages including, Madh Ranjha, have been submerged.

The flow of water in the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala has been recorded at 261,000 cusecs, and the administration is evacuating people from the affected areas.
Disaster in Hafizabad and Jhang
The flow of water at Head Qadirabad has increased to 1 million 77 thousand cusecs, due to which 75 settlements of Hafizabad have been submerged.
The water level at Trimo Hydroworks in Jhang is continuously rising, and according to the Deputy Commissioner, food and fodder are being provided to the affected families.
In Pakpattan, displaced people are forced to take shelter on the banks of the river. According to the victims, they are facing a severe shortage of food and drinking water.
Crack in Bahawalpur, villages submerged
A crack in the Zamindar Dam of the Sutlej River in Bahawalpur has submerged villages and thousands of acres of land. Rescue officials have described the Yusuf Wala and Ahmed Wala dams as severely affected.
