PM Shehbaz directs NDMA to work in full coordination with provincial governments to intensify safety and relief efforts


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, currently in Beijing, called the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to get an update on the ongoing flood situation in Pakistan and directed authorities to accelerate rescue and relief operations.
During his visit to China, the Prime Minister held a telephonic conversation with the NDMA Chairman from Beijing. The Chairman briefed the Prime Minister on the current flood conditions in the country and ongoing relief efforts.
The NDMA Chairman informed the Prime Minister about the rising water levels in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers. In response, the Prime Minister instructed the NDMA to complete all preparations for rescue and relief operations in advance, keeping in view the increasing flood risk in these rivers.
He further directed the NDMA to work in full coordination with provincial governments to intensify safety and relief efforts. The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to alert the public in advance about the potential threats from rising water levels in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers.
