Google Photos allows users to turn photos into videos

Google's new video generation model, Wave 3, is being made part of Google Photos.

This new model, equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, will be available in the ‘Create’ tab of the Google Photos mobile app and will allow users to convert still images into video clips.

According to the company, this feature is currently being introduced to users in the United States.

It is already possible to create videos in Google Photos through the Photo to Video feature.

But according to the company, with the addition of Wave 3, users will be able to create quality videos.

It is pertinent to note that Google introduced the Wave 3 image-to-video generation model at the annual developer conference in May 2025.

In July, it was made part of the Gemini app, where it was available to people who paid a monthly fee.

But in Google Photos, users will be able to use this model for free and will also be able to animate their old photos.

However, the company said that with Wave 3, users will be able to convert a limited number of photos into videos.

However, this AI model in Google Photos will not provide audio support, while the video will be 4 seconds long.
