Shehbaz Sharif said that Sept 6 is a day of bravery, unity and determination in our history


Islamabad: Defense and Martyrs Day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country today to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the beloved homeland.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital Islamabad on the occasion of Defense Day.
A grand ceremony of changing the guards is underway at the Quaid-e-Azam shrine in Karachi, with Air Officer Commanding Air Vice Marshal Shahryan Khan as the special guest.
A well-dressed contingent of Pakistan Air Force Academy Asghar Khan will assume the duties of guards at the Quaid-e-Azam shrine.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that September 6 is a day of bravery, unity and determination in our national history. That invincible spirit of 1965 is still alive today.
The Prime Minister stated that in the recent battle for justice, the armed forces and the people once again became an iron wall. Field Marshal Asim Munir’s strategic vision erased the arrogance of the enemy and created a new history. We pay tribute to the brave martyrs.
He added that we reiterate our solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Kashmir. We urge the international community to play its role in ending Israeli aggression.
In addition, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Naval and Air Chiefs have paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1965 war.
The Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) has said that on this historic day of September 6, our brave soldiers stood with the support of the nation and fought against open aggression.
The ISPR says that the armed forces foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy who far outnumbered us in weapons and numbers. The courage of our fearless heroes still inspires the coming generations.
The ISPR added that today the entire nation salutes its martyrs, ghazis and their steadfast families. Pakistan's armed forces have always stood firm against external aggression and terrorism.
