Situation in flood-affected areas of Punjab may worsen due to rains


Karachi: Light rain fell in different areas of Karachi in the early morning, with clouds raining in different areas including Saddar, II Chandrigarh Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Defense, Qayyumabad, Korangi Road, Burns Road, and MA Jinnah Road also received drizzle. Apart from this, University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Mahmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Baloch Colony, and surrounding areas also received rain. Water started accumulating in low-lying areas due to the rain.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain with thunderstorms for two days in Karachi. Due to the torrential rain, low-lying areas of Karachi are likely to be flooded.
On the other hand, the monsoon storm spell is also continuing in other cities of Sindh.
Heavy rain occurred in various cities including Hyderabad, Sajawal, Thatta, Sukkur, Obaro, Daharki, Mirpur Mathelo, and Nowshera Feroze.
The Meteorological Department has forecast more heavy rains in the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in various cities including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Khairpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad till September 10.
More rains are expected in many cities of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujarat during the next 24 hours. Heavy rains are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Dera Ghazi Khan. PDMA has expressed fears of urban flooding in major cities.
