Punjab: Polling starts for Ijaz Chaudhry's vacant seat, Rana Sanaullah (PML-N) candidate
363 members of Punjab Assembly will exercise their right to vote


Lahore: Polling is underway for the Senate seat vacated by the disqualification of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s Ijaz Chaudhry from Punjab.
According to the spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab, the returning officer Sharifullah started the polling process at the Punjab Assembly Hall for the by-election for the vacant Senate seat and the polling process is still ongoing.
The spokesperson says that 363 members of the Punjab Assembly will exercise their right to vote and the polling will continue uninterrupted till 4:00pm.
According to the spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commissioner, Rana Sanaullah and Salma Ijaz are candidates for the Senate seat.
On this occasion, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Sanaullah said that the PTI has no other option but to escape. 10 to 12 people from PTI would have voted for him but he forbade them to vote for their candidate and not him.
On the other hand, the Lahore High Court (LHC), on the request of Ijaz Chaudhry, has made the by-election for the Senate seat in Punjab conditional on the final decision on the petition.
