Suspects were involved in unlicensed currency exchange and illegal hawala/hundi transactions


(Web Desk): On the directives of DG FIA Rifaat Mukhtar Raja, a crackdown is ongoing against hawala, hundi, and illegal currency exchange networks. According to the FIA spokesperson, six suspects have been arrested during operations in the Peshawar zone.
The arrests were made through joint operations by the Commercial Banking Circle Peshawar and the Composite Circle Abbottabad. The individuals taken into custody include Gul Bahadur, Itibar Gul, Asif Khan, Jamshed, Malik Zada, and Naseeb ul Haq. They were apprehended from Mansehra and Charsadda.
The spokesperson stated that the suspects were involved in unlicensed currency exchange and illegal hawala/hundi transactions. During the raids, authorities seized Rs. 6.2 million in cash, 1,100 US dollars, Saudi riyals, 14 mobile phones, receipts, registers, and other evidence.
A vehicle used by the suspects was also taken into custody. The arrested individuals failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the recovered money.
According to the FIA, an investigation has been launched against the accused.
