‘Cricket and politics cannot go hand in hand, and sports should be allowed to remain just a game’

(Web Desk): Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that thankfully, Allah has preserved Pakistan’s honor, and he hopes the team will now perform well.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that shortly before, the match referee apologized to the captain and team manager, acknowledging that such an incident should not have occurred. He added that they have requested an inquiry from the ICC regarding violations in the match on September 14.
He stated that cricket and politics cannot go hand in hand, and sports should be allowed to remain just a game. Cricket should rise above all these issues.
He mentioned consulting former chairmen Najam Sethi and Ramiz Raja about the situation. The Prime Minister and authorities were involved and supportive of the matter. He thanked Allah that Pakistan’s honor has been maintained and expressed hope that the team will now show good performance.
Former chairman Najam Sethi said that PCB has always maintained the stance that there should be no politics in sports.
Former chairman Ramiz Raja called this a victory for Pakistan and said that whoever’s feelings were hurt should now let the team respond with their performance. Cricket should remain cricket, not a political platform.
He added that Andy Pycroft is a fixed referee for the Indian team, pointing out that Pycroft has been the match referee in 90 matches involving India. He believes Andy Pycroft is India’s favorite match referee.
