US calls recognition of Palestine by western countries a ‘showy act’

Washington: The US has described the announcements of recognition of the Palestinian state by various Western countries as a showy act.

The US State Department says that the US priority is serious diplomacy, not showy declarations. Peace, the security of Israel, and the release of hostages are our priority.

The State Department said that peace and prosperity in the region are possible only without Hamas, and the recognition of the Palestinian state by the UK, Australia, Canada, and others is just a showy act.

It is pertinent to note that after the UK, Canada, and Australia, Portugal has also announced its formal recognition of Palestine as an independent state, while more countries are likely to recognize the Palestinian state in the coming days.

On the other hand, the Israeli Foreign Ministry on Sunday rejected the decision of the UK, Canada, and Australia to unilaterally recognize the Palestinian state.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again demonstrated his stubbornness and said that no Palestinian state will be created and that Jewish settlement activities will continue in the West Bank.
