Babar Mangi, Amjad Mirani release music video for new song “Sindhu Valley”
New track highlights cultural and historical significance of Indus River

(Web Desk): Singers Babar Mangi and Amjad Mirani have released the music video for their new song Sindhu Valley, highlighting the cultural and historical significance of the Indus River.
The river, which has sustained life in the Indus Valley for over 5,000 years, is portrayed in the song as a nurturing mother to whom the singers long to return. The lyrics speak of going back to a humble home in the valley, emphasizing that Sindhi culture has always been deeply connected to the Indus.
The song also recalls the river’s vastness and timelessness across civilizations, referencing it as the cradle of Mohenjo-daro. The video depicts life along the riverbanks—children playing near clay houses in traditional Sindhi villages.
Beyond its cultural themes, the song carries a strong political message opposing the controversial project to divert Indus waters through canals to irrigate the Cholistan Desert. In the video, Mangi and Mirani are shown wandering the desert in search of water, taking refuge in an empty boat, until the barren land transforms into water—culminating with Mangi quenching his thirst from the river.
Through its imagery and lyrics, the work conveys the artists’ deep reverence for the Indus, seeing it not merely as water but as a sacred presence.
The song was produced by Babar Mangi, with video direction by Rahool Ejaz, known for directing Pakistan’s first Sindhi feature film Indus Echoes. Hussnain Samoo served as line producer, dedicating the project to the Sindhi people and the Indus River. The music video’s executive producer is Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Jr., a noted social and environmental activist.
