(Web Desk): England’s legendary cricket umpire Dickie Bird has passed away at the age of 92.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dickie Bird, one of the most beloved figures in the world of cricket.
In a statement, the club said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dickie Bird, one of cricket’s most cherished personalities, who died peacefully at his home at the age of 92.”
Dickie Bird officiated in 66 Test matches, 69 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 7 Women’s ODIs during his illustrious umpiring career. He also stood in three World Cup finals, a rare achievement.
Before becoming a world-renowned umpire, Dickie Bird also played in 93 first-class matches for England. Throughout his career, he remained immensely popular with players and fans alike.
