According to Indian media, the 71st National Film Awards ceremony was held in New Delhi, where Indian President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners.
Shah Rukh Khan received the Best Actor National Award for his performance in the 2023 blockbuster film "Jawan". This marks the first National Film Award of his illustrious career, which began in 1992 with the film Deewana.
Actor Vikrant Massey also shared the Best Actor award with Shah Rukh Khan for his powerful performance in the 2023 film 12th Fail.
Actress Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress National Award for her stellar role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.
Known globally as the “King of Bollywood,” Shah Rukh Khan has delivered countless iconic performances in beloved films such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Chak De! India, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Over the years, he has received numerous prestigious awards, both in India and internationally, but had never before won India’s top cinematic honour — the National Award.
That dream has now come true with his critically acclaimed performance in "Jawan", where he played a double role and appeared in seven different avatars.
It’s worth noting that the winners of the 71st National Film Awards were announced on August 1.
