Meta introduces teen accounts to create safer online space for teens
The safety features in Teen Accounts have been designed keeping in mind the primary concerns of parents

Karachi: Meta has introduced Teen Accounts to enhance the safety of young users and address concerns from parents.
This special account type marks a significant step toward protecting younger teens online. So far, Meta has transitioned millions of teenagers worldwide to Teen Accounts across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
While this feature has already been available globally on Instagram, it is now being expanded to Facebook and Messenger, including in Pakistan.
The safety features in Teen Accounts have been designed keeping in mind the primary concerns of parents. Through automated systems, the platform ensures that teens are interacting with the right people, viewing appropriate content, and managing their time online in a healthy way.
Although there is still more work to be done, Meta says it is encouraged by the fact that Teen Accounts are helping parents feel more confident and reassured about their children’s online experiences.
Starting this week, Meta will begin transitioning new users in Pakistan—as well as existing young users on Facebook and Messenger—to Teen Accounts.
