Instagram’s monthly active users surpass three billion
Previously, Facebook and WhatsApp had already achieved this milestone

(Web Desk): Instagram has become the third Meta-owned app to surpass three billion monthly active users. Previously, Facebook and WhatsApp had already achieved this milestone.
Meta’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that Instagram’s monthly user base has now crossed 3 billion. In a post shared on his Instagram channel, he said, “We are building an amazing community here.”
This marks a significant milestone for the photo-sharing platform, which Meta acquired in 2012 for $1 billion. In October 2022, Instagram’s user base had reached 2 billion, meaning the platform added another billion users in just under three years.
In April 2024, Meta announced that it would no longer disclose the overall user counts of Facebook and its other apps, but it would continue to highlight major milestones.
In January 2025, Zuckerberg revealed that the Facebook app had surpassed 3 billion daily active users, while in April 2025, he announced that WhatsApp was being used by more than 3 billion people worldwide.
