It has been decided to set a fee of $10,000 in MDCAT for children of overseas Pakistanis


Lahore: The admission policy for public and private medical and dental colleges in Punjab has been approved.
A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in which important decisions related to the health department were taken.
Under the admission policy, passing the MDCAT test has been declared mandatory for admission to government medical colleges, while it has been decided to set a fee of $10,000 in MDCAT for children of overseas Pakistanis.
If the name appears in the private medical college list, the candidate will have to deposit one-third of the fee at the University of Health Sciences, while after the final merit list of private medical and dental colleges comes out, the UHS will transfer one-third of the fee collected to the concerned college.
Students seeking admission will deposit the remaining fee at the concerned private medical and dental college after the final merit list comes out.
The meeting agreed on a mutual proposal for compulsory service after postgraduate training in private hospitals. As per the demand of the specialist, the trainee doctor will be sent for specialization in the relevant field at private medical colleges.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed happiness over the first successful angioplasty in Sahiwal and welcomed the start of surgery at the cardiac center.
Maryam Nawaz directed to devise foolproof and transparent methods for the treatment of patients at the Mayo Hospital Coblation Center. She ordered relief for cancer patients in every case.
Instead of building a separate building for a new medical college in Punjab, it was agreed to build a medical block in the government universities. The Chief Minister also approved the board of management of various institutions in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz has said that poor patients should get treatment facilities in every hospital in Punjab without spending a single rupee. I want to make it possible for every cancer patient to be treated.
The Chief Minister of Punjab directed taking necessary steps for the early establishment of Nawaz Sharif Medical City.
