Prime Minister calls meeting with Trump ‘encouraging’

New Jersey: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the meeting with US President Donald Trump as encouraging.

The Prime Minister, while talking to the media in New Jersey, said that the economy, counter-terrorism, minerals, AI, IT, and crypto were discussed in the meeting with the US President and that the US is ready to invest in trade, IT, and other sectors.

The Prime Minister thanked the US President on the tariff issue, saying that the price of minerals will be determined appropriately between Pakistan and the US, and the Pak-US trade agreements will be based on mutual interests.

He has said that in four days, from May 6 to 10, the Pakistani forces bravely defeated India in war. The gratitude that Allah has given to the Pakistani forces is not enough.

The Prime Minister, while talking to the media in New Jersey, said that Field Marshal Asim Munir led the Pakistani forces wisely in the war.

The Prime Minister also mentioned his visit to Saudi Arabia while talking to the media.

Shehbaz Sharif added that he went to Saudi Arabia and was given a wonderful welcome there. The Prime Minister said that he had not seen such a welcome in 40 years.

The Prime Minister also discussed the improvement in Pakistan’s economy. He said that the country's situation was facing difficulties a few years ago. When he assumed power, there were economic challenges; even then. Inflation was 32 percent, but now it has reduced to single digits in 1.5 years.

The Prime Minister said that when he assumed power, the policy rate was 22.5 percent; today it is at 11 percent.

The Prime Minister, while describing overseas Pakistanis as great Pakistani ambassadors, said that overseas Pakistanis sent $38.5 billion to the country in 2024-25, and the country's economic situation has stabilized at the micro level.
