Karachi’s dairy industry supplies around 5 million liters of milk to the city on a daily basis

(Web Desk): Dairy farmers in Karachi have demanded an immediate increase of Rs50 per liter in milk prices.
While addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, leaders of the Dairy Farmers Association stated that the devastation caused by floods has severely affected dairy farmers in Karachi.
The dairy farmers said that over 1 million animals are present in various colonies of the city, and Karachi’s dairy industry supplies around 5 million liters of milk to the city on a daily basis.
They added that the cost of almost everything in the dairy farming industry has increased by approximately 30%. If prices continue to rise like this, there is a risk of animals dying from hunger. Dairy farmers in Karachi are incurring a daily loss of Rs. 300 million in milk production.
Demanding a price hike, the dairy farmers said that an immediate increase of Rs50 per liter in milk prices is essential.
They also announced that if a notification regarding the price hike is not issued by October 1, they will protest outside the Chief Minister’s House.
