Peshawar: A policeman was martyred in an attack on a polio team in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, a polio team was fired upon by unknown assailants in Daudzai area of Peshawar in which a cop was martyred by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle.
According to the SSP operation, a search operation has been launched in the area and the search for the culprits is going on.
The policeman was on duty with the polio team.
According to the Polio Emergency Operations Center, the policeman was on his way home after completing his duty when he was attacked.
The polio team has returned safely to its centre.
It should be noted that a five-day anti-polio campaign was launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa two days ago and today is the third day of the campaign.
More than 3.7 million children will be vaccinated against polio during the campaign. 26,719 personnel are on duty to protect the teams.
