Lahore: National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has proudly secured first position in the 50th WAPDA Annual Inter-Unit Badminton Competition held at the WAPDA Sports Complex, Lahore, from September 30 to October 5, 2025. NGC emerged as the champion with a total of 170 points, while GEPCO and FESCO secured second and third positions with 104 and 58 points respectively.
Seven teams participated in the tournament, including NGC, LESCO, GEPCO, FESCO, MEPCO, IESCO, and QESCO.
NGC players Muhammad Ali Larosh and Mahoor Shehzad won the men’s and women’s singles finals respectively, while Muhammad Ali Larosh, along with Awais Zahid, secured victory in the men’s doubles. In the officers’ category, Usman Talib secured second position in singles, and then paired with Muneeb ud Din to win the officers’ doubles final. Muhammad Adnan got second position in the men’s singles final, and the pair of Mahoor Shehzad and Farzana Ali secured second place in the women’s doubles.
The prize distribution ceremony on the final day was graced by Engr. Muhammad Shahid Nazir, Managing Director NGC, as the chief guest. He congratulated all players and presented trophies and shields to the winners and team managers from all participating units. He appreciated the efforts of the NGC team for bringing laurels to the organization through their outstanding performance.
Engr. Dr. Khawaja Riffat Hassan, Deputy Managing Director (P&E) and President NGC Sports Association, Muhammad Ibrahim, General Manager (Media & PR), Engr. Asghar Mujtaba Niazi, Chief Engineer (PD) and Vice President NGC Sports, Tahir Mehmood, Director General (HRO), Farooq Ahmed, Director General WAPDA Sports Board, Hammad Rasool Bhullar, Finance Secretary WAPDA Sports Board and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
