Pakistan strengthens ties with global financial institutions

Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to its reform agenda and economic stability during a meeting with IMF Director Jihad Azour. They reviewed progress on the second review of the IMF program.

Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting

Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of climate finance and implementing the Loss and Damage Fund for developing countries at the Commonwealth Finance Ministers meeting.

World Bank Meeting

The Finance Minister met with World Bank Group Senior Managing Director, discussing ways to increase financial resources to address climate change. Aurangzeb appreciated the World Bank's cooperation.

US-Pakistan Business Council Meeting

Aurangzeb met with members of the US-Pakistan Business Council, discussing ways to promote the private sector and facilitate the business community. He expressed hope for increased cooperation in mining, agriculture, IT, and pharma.

Meetings with US Officials

The Finance Minister met with senior US Treasury officials, discussing economic reforms and inviting American companies to invest in energy, minerals, and IT.

Meetings with IFC and IDB

Aurangzeb met with IFC Regional Vice President Riccardo Puliti and IDB President Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser, discussing project financing and cooperation.

Other Engagements

The Finance Minister also met with Citibank representatives, discussing economic stability and reforms. He gave interviews to Associated Press and Reuters, and attended a dinner hosted by Pakistani Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.

The meetings in Washington aim to strengthen Pakistan's relations with global financial institutions and demonstrate its commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
