Information Minister Azma Bokhari says religious party’s call for protest came after a peace agreement had already been reached in Gaza

Lahore: The Punjab cabinet has approved a ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari announced that the Punjab Cabinet has approved a ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
She stated that while the entire world acknowledges Pakistan’s constructive role in advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza, a political group within the country announced protests over the same issue.
According to Bokhari, the religious party’s call for protest came after a peace agreement had already been reached in Gaza. “During these protests, acts of vandalism were committed and public property was damaged. Those who resort to violent demonstrations cannot be considered well-wishers of the nation or its people,” she said.
“Did burning police vehicles help resolve the Gaza issue? The state has decided that Pakistan cannot afford such violent protests or destruction.”
She added that no one can be allowed to violate the fundamental rights of others and thanked the business community, transporters, and the general public for rejecting the strike call.
Azma Bokhari confirmed that the Punjab Cabinet has approved the ban on TLP and that a summary has been forwarded to the federal government for implementation.
It is worth noting that a day earlier, reports emerged that the Punjab government had decided to recommend a federal ban on the religious organization and to take control of all its assets.
